One Small Step
Space expedition boot redesign.
THE PROBLEM
Current astronaut boots are not built for walking around and exploring other planets. They are cumbersome and haven’t been updated for over 50 years. As the concept of space tourism quickly manifests into reality, I wanted to redesign the astronaut boot to be more wearable and to incorporate new technology.
Back to the Drawing Board.
After reviewing my initial concept with several footwear design professionals, I decided it should be reworked to better meet the needs of my target consumer and reflect the innovation capabilities of both Nike and Space X.
Refined Vision: To push the boundaries of footwear innovation by leveraging modularity, Space X’s 3D printing manufacturing capabilities and Nike’s material innovation while ultimately achieving a luxury apperance.
